We care about the people of De Doorns.

Mountgrape NPC

Mountgrape NPC's foundation is built on unwavering faith and the belief that education is a powerful tool for transformation. In collaboration with local schools, Pathways, Year Beyond, and Work 4 A Living programs, our aim is to bear good fruit by nurturing young minds and spirits in the Hex River Valley, guided by love, faith, and the unshakeable trust that we are part of a greater purpose.

Our vision is to create a nurturing environment where every child in the Hex River Valley can discover their potential, pursue their dreams, and build a bright future. We are committed to transforming lives through education, fostering hope and empowering the next generation to contribute meaningfully to their communities and the world.

Our mission is to provide comprehensive, value-based guidance that meets the diverse needs of our youth. We are dedicated to supporting our youth's holistic development - mind, body and spirit. Equipping them with the skills, knowledge and character they need to thrive in life and the workforce. We would like to affirm the worth and potential of every young person to discover their dreams and chase them with hope. To transform our community in the Hex River Valley.

Hexlappies

What started off as communial support by local facilitator and land artist, Erica Luttich, for ladies that suffored the loss of a loved one or their jobs during the recent pandemic, is now of utmost importance to them all. Through Hexlappies, they've not only made new friends, but was also given the opportunity to improve and developed new skills in order to generate an income. Petra Childrens Ministries

Now established in what use to be the old jail of the village De Doorns, the purpose of Petra Institute for Children Ministries is to break bondages by assisting and training. Their training in children's ministry empowers ordinary adults to show the way and minister to children in way that will see them grow in the faith from a young age. Situated in the beautiful Hexvalley, 130 km north from Cape Town, our mission and dream is to see adults and children grow together in the Christian faith. Petra College is currently run by a group of volunteers and most of our much needed funds are raised through donations. For a list of our most pressing current needs, have a look at the priority needs page.

Hex River Educational Centre

Hex River Educational Centre – Here We Blossom Nestled in the beautiful farmlands of the Hex River Valley, the Hex River Educational Centre has been nurturing young minds since 2008. This independent private Christian school provides education for children from 10 months to Grade 7, offering a safe and peaceful farm atmosphere that inspires learning and growth. With small class sizes and a strong focus on personal attention, the school follows the National Curriculum, enriched with supplementary material for consolidation and development. Lessons are presented in Afrikaans and designed to build both academic excellence and essential life skills, all underpinned by strong Christian values. At Hex River Educational Centre, children don’t just attend school – they blossom into confident, capable individuals ready to make a positive impact on the world. Our curriculum is presented in Afrikaans and provides for individual attention to enhance our learners’ life skills, and this is integrated with learning material which develops a child’s moral understanding of the world, underpinned by Christian values. “Here we blossom!”

Braveheart Home

This company is a children’s house of safety which serves as a temporary shelter for children. The Home provides the first step in care of children in need within the valley’s service area and assiststhe families involved. Situated in a spacious home in an established De Doorns suburb, the facility is well equipped to care for the needs of children. The facility caters for orphans and children whose parents are too ill or unable to care for them. The home thus provides a place of safety for children in need and a home for foster care children. As the Hex River Valley has a large underprivileged population, there is a considerable need for this service. As Braveheart Kidz @ Peace Ministries works together with local government, welfare organizations and local clinics, the best care possible is given to these children. The children are well cared for and are generally healthy, happy children. This company is a public benefit organization.
